EVS in high school

The association Bureau Information Jeunesse (BIJ) of Lorient is looking for 4 EVS volunteer for 4 projects in high schools from the 01/10/2018 to the 31/05/2019.

To become our EVS volunteer, please read below description of the projects and send us CV and motivation letter at sve@bij-lorient.org, with the subject "EVS in high school” as soon as possible.

You can find the full description of the 4 differents projects in high school (high school in France = students between 15 and 18 years) :

- EVS in Dupuy de Lôme High School and in ND de la Paix high School :
The volunteer will carry out his mission in High School, located in Lorient, in southern Brittany.
It may develop :
- the volunteer will be able to raise awareness among high school students, other students and the staff of the high school about the protection of the environment, the energy expenditure, protection of the coastline : workshops, exhibitions, debats…
- activities : organization of exhibitions, cultural and artistic visits and also on others subjects
- To animate, if possible, a French workshop for pupils of the school.
- Implementation of mutual assistance between high school students and high school students and students.
- Assisting students in difficulty according to their disciplinary skills.
Projects common to the various structures (highschool, YIC) involved in hosting a young person in EVS can be set up, with working time in common (project development, implementation and evaluation), which will represent opportunities for schools Exchanges and an enriching opening.
We welcome a volunteer who is sensitive to the environment and ecology. We would like him/her to be autonomous, open and passionate about the work with youth and in team.
(S)he shall be between 20 and 30 years of age and have to show self-reliance.
It woul be appreciated if she/he could have a minimal command of french.

- EVS in Jean Macé High School and Saint-Louis High School :
The volunteer will carry out his mission in High School, located in Lorient, in southern Brittany.
It may develop :
- Through his/her different missions, he/she will develop skills in various fields such as communication, taking initiatives, language learning, project leading…
- He/she will be entrusted with tasks mainly concerning animation out of class time, organising and accompanying both day pupils and boarders in their activities.
- The projects will be determined according to the skills and aptitudes of the applicant.
- He/she will play an active role in the “Maison des lycéens” (school club), in the management of the school cafeteria (run by pupils), organize events, propose cultural activities and boarders outings.
- He/she will also help pupils in their individual and collective international mobility projects and take an active part especially in the fields of equal opportunities and civil rights.
- activities : organization of exhibitions, cultural and artistic visits and on the issue of youth health. To animate, if possible, a French workshop for foreign pupils of the school.
- Implementation of mutual assistance between high school students and high school students and students.
- Assisting students in difficulty according to their disciplinary skills.
- Accompany the elected high school students to the Regional Council of the Young people and the members of the students’ office.
- Projects common to the various structures (highschool, YIC) involved in hosting a young person in EVS can be set up, with working time in common.

We would like to welcome a volunteer sensitive to cooperation and solidarity, curious, open to others. We would like him (her) to have an interest in intercultural communication and to be critical and creative in his ability to participate constructively in the life of the institution. Organizational skills, team spirit and interest in the arts, culture, digital or sport would also be appreciated.
(S) he shall be between 20 and 30 years of age and have to show self-reliance.
It would be appreciated if she/he could have a minimal command of french.


Lorient and its suburbs are the 3rd biggest in Brittany after RENNES and BREST. Near the sea and in the Morbihan department, Lorient looks to the sea and is 1h40 from Rennes and Brest, 5h from Paris. The three universities gather 6.500 students.

Accommodation : The volunteer will share a flat with other EVS volunteers in Lorient.
The volunteer will have lunch in high school during working days and (S)he will receive a monthly budget for food to prepare his/her own meals.
The volunteer will have a bicycle and a subscription for the local bus services.

Training during the opportunity : To all EVS volunteers of our organisation is given the chance to participate to on-arrival training and med-term evaluation organised by the French National Agency for Erasmus + Youth.
The volunteers are expected to take part into a pre-departure training organized by their sending organisations before their arrival.
The volunteer will attend French language lessons (for the first 3 months)

This project is coordinated by the association Bureau Information Jeunesse Lorient. It’s a youth Information Center (YIC). Since 2012, the YIC of Lorient is also a sending and a coordinating organization for the young people taking part in the EVS program. 6 european volunteers will be hosted in Lorient during this period, as coordinating organisation the YIC of Lorient, meeting between volunteers will be planed and they will have opportunity to create small projects together.
